Nearly four out of five people like the changes brought about by downtown redevelopment in Petaluma and nearly two out of three visit downtown regularly or daily, according to the response to an Argus-Courier online poll April 18, 2007.
Dining was the main activity that draws downtown, followed by shopping, entertainment, socializing and services, according to the poll.

Nearly half of those who responded to the Argus-Courier online poll April 11, 2007 feel it is unsafe for young people to wear red or blue clothing claimed by gangs when they are out in public.

If the Argus-Courier’s online survey conducted April 4, 2007 is an indicator, local residents are concerned, but generally not highly concerned about the availability of health-care services in the south county if Sutter hospital in Santa Rosa closes.

Most of those who responded to an Argus-Courier online survey about retail development on March 28, 2007 said Petaluma does not need more retail stores.
Fifty-three percent said the city does not need more stores, while 32 percent said yes.
More than three out of four (76 percent) said they are generally not supportive of bringing large national chain stores to Petaluma.
