It may be early in the election season, but two  candidates, David Glass and Mike Harris, have their campaigns up and running in the race to serve as Petaluma’s next mayor. Current Mayor Glass may have a run for his money as respondents in this week’s unofficial poll favored Harris by a wide margin.
Here were some of the comments:
“Councilmember Mike Harris will get my vote. I can only hope he supports Safeway’s proposal for a gas station so people can buy affordable fuel without having to go out of town.”
——
“David Glass can get things done, in public and with accountability. Mike Harris always talks a good line, acting like your best buddy, but then consistently votes for the insiders and Republicans. Not a good fit for the future of our city.”
——
“Mike has impressed me with his willingness to listen to all Petalumans.”
——
“I have made my decision for Mike Harris. I just hope that he can demonstrate strong leadership that I know he is capable of. Years of hot air got nothing resolved. We need leaders who ask tough questions, like Keith Canavero and Clark Thompson used to do.”
——
“I think we should fire the whole bunch and start over.”
——
“David Glass has been an advocate to make sure development supports city infrastructure and services.”
——
“It’s time for a change and some fresh new ideas. Mike Harris is a consensus builder who cares about all Petalumans, not just narrow special interest factions.”
——
“Aren’t there any better candidates than these two?”
——
“We need a change. What happened to Wyatt Bunker? He is the only one who was ready to tackle the pension problem.”
——
“Time to get rid of the last obstructionist. Mike Harris works for all of Petaluma.”
——
“Mr. Harris has been consistent in his positions and votes. Mr. Glass seems to bounce from pillar to post.”
