Most people responding to an Argus-Courier online poll believe the City Council did the right thing in lowering building impact fees for new development. About 69.5 percent thought this was the right thing to do, while almost 26 percent disagreed. A little under 5 percent weren’t sure. Here were some of the comments.
——
“Nothing being built in past decade — no brainer.”
——
“If the fees no longer cover the actual impact, then no. If they were significantly inflated, then yes.”
——
“The old fees were way out of line. We should support reasonable growth and employment.”
——
“This is only beneficial to owners of properties simply so they can make easy money off of their lands. Impact fees help pay for city infrastructure. Lowering them leaves Petaluma with less money to fix roads, less money for infrastucture necessary to maintain a city!”
——
“Yes of course. Petaluma has become the least business friendly city in one of the least business friendly counties in the United States. We need change!
